Rodolphe Parente founded his studio in Paris in 2009 after several years of working alongside Andrée Putman. This experience allowed him to navigate both interior architecture and design; a comprehensive vision of space that he learned to master during his studies at the National School of Fine Arts in Dijon, followed by the Higher School of Decorative Arts in Strasbourg and ECAL, the Lausanne School of Art and Design. Within his studio, Rodolphe Parente maintains this commitment to heterogeneity and leverages the strengths of his dual education. He conceives projects across various creative scales and destinations: residential spaces, hotels, restaurants, gyms, castles, offices, banks, shops, furniture, and accessories.
Rodolphe Parente’s aesthetic affinities and influences draw notably from the innovative spirit of the 1930s, the glamour of the 1970s, and the radicalism of the 1980s. These strong currents have shaped his taste and free spirit. Ingenuity, sensitivity to craftsmanship, expressive materials, a touch of whimsy, and openness to contemporary usage are thus distilled and elevated in his projects. They all reflect a desire for imagination, contrast, and precision, embodying a continually reinvented modernity. His creations advocate for a luxury infused with lightness, foster curiosity, and honor art. The comfort and harmony of a space are achieved through luminosity, the enhancement of unique textures, carefully considered volumes, and architecturally curated colors that reveal a room. Rodolphe Parente also appreciates unexpected intersections and details, paying homage in both subtle and suggested ways. Codes are subtly subverted, ensuring non-stereotypical spaces.
Each new project involves finding the right tone and legitimate choices. This narrative desire is always the result of thoughtful reflection for the benefit of the recipient. It’s not about applying a formula or demonstrating prowess but about creating tailor-made, appropriate spaces. Rodolphe Parente’s creations are unique; he endeavors to offer a new narrative each time. The approach can be radical, sophisticated, hybrid, or enveloping. For each project, Rodolphe Parente’s intention is to accompany, initiate, integrate into a context, and arouse curiosity to create naturally embodied and lively spaces.
In the summer of 2022, Rodolphe Parente served as President of the Jury and guest of honor at the Design Parade Toulon, the 6th international festival of interior architecture. On this occasion, he presented the exhibition “Contre-soirée” at the Ancient Bishopric. To honor this carte blanche, Rodolphe Parente delivered a festive message, an ode to generosity and sharing, through the play of light, textures, rhythms, and compositions he so loves to master. This personal and scenographic proposition, deliberately intergenerational, affirms his style and marks his journey.
